Getting Started With Vaccines

We recommend puppy shots start between 6-8 weeks old.

Your first visit,

Wormer and your first exam (no office charge with vaccines)

Your second visit, (3-4 weeks later)

Heart worm prevention (each month you check the weight on your dog to make sure you are getting the right dose of heart worm prevention)

Your third visit, ( 3-4 weeks later)

DHLPP   (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospira,  Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)

Your fourth visit, (3-4 weeks later)

RV1 (rabies, 1 year),  must get this updated on time next year, to receive a 3 year rabies. Note the “year” is not by how old your dog is, but how long the vaccine is good for.

Heart worm prevention

The last thing to do is at 5-6 months old, set up spay/neuter appointment. At this time it is best to micro-chip. Only because the pet is sleeping. But this can be done at any time.
